We cannot also deny the fact that technology is bringing us in a close comfort where we spend too much time just facing it, alone. Headphones and earphones are just among the technology that we often use every day.

Whether we are walking our way or on a bus ride off to work, we would put on our headset and listen to our playlist. Little did we know though that even headphones have bad effects towards our body.

We might have taken this for granted but, too much use of headphones have adverse effect.

  1. Ear Infections

We all once in a while share our personal stuff to others that may include our headphones. However when this happens, bacteria could be transmitted to your ear. As a result, you could easily get ear infections. So the next time you let your friends borrow your headphones, make sure you sanitize it.

  1. Air Passage is Covered

Our ears require the air passage opened from most of the time. While we insert the headphones in our ear canal to get the audio better, the air passage are covered which could result to higher risk of ear infections.

  1. Hearing Loss and complications

The worst that we could experience as too much use of headphones are the complications in hearing. As we enjoy the higher volume of audio directly into our ear, hearing loss could be a worst result. To avoid, you should give your ears some rest from loud music or high volume audios.

  1. Numbness and Pain in Ears

Numb ears could be felt when you use earphones or headphones most of the time in a day. While numbness would soon be gone, hearing ability could be put to risk and eventually too much of it to deafness.

If you might have noticed it, too much use of it also leads to the pain in ears. A certain point of ear might also feel the sharp pain. If that happens, give your ears plenty of rest and if the pain continues—better consult a specialist.

  1. Bad Effects on Brain

Although no strong medical evidence has yet been found to prove that the electromagnetic waves produced by the loud music in our headphones could cause serious risk to our brain, the inner ear is directly connect to the brain—so be sure it is safe what you put inside.

Moreover, those Bluetooth headphones and headsets have been found more risky to brain as it could cause brain related problems.

This article doesn’t stop you from using headphones or headsets, you just have to minimize it. These tips are a lot helpful:

  • Avoid using tiny headphones/earphones that directly go into the ear canals. Better those big headphones, the old ones which stay outside your ears.
  • Avoid sharing your earphones/headphones with others.
  • Make sure you change the sponge cover/ rubber cover of your headphones/earphones once a month. If your earphones/headphones doesn’t have sponge covers, make sure you sanitize them.
  • Do not use earphones/headphones when you are travelling by car, train, metro or even walking.
  • No loud music ever when you use earphones/headphones.
