The Philippines is such a beautiful country in South East Asia. No wonder it is called the “Pearl Of The Orient Seas” that attracted foreigners. Being an archipelago composed of about 7,107 islands, the Philippines has so many hidden beautiful natural treasures.
Among these is the island of Palawan. It is now dubbed as the Philippines’ “Last Frontier”. The island province is the largest province in the Philippines having a land area of about 1.5 million hectares. And the coastline of the island reaches about 2,000 kilometers long. To add, most of the beaches are all in white sand.
Another reason why Palawan is called the “Last Frontier” of the country is because of its rich biodiversity and complex ecosystem. According to Conservation.org, “it still retains more than 50 percent of its original forest cover, and harbors vast stretches of old growth forests on its mountainous slopes.”
Not only that, it’s home to World Heritage Sites; the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park that includes the world’s longest navigable underground river (about 8 kilometers long), and the Tubbataha Reef Natural Park where thousands of marine creatures live like whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, and more than 400 species of fish.
Palawan is also known for its old and original forests where different species of rare and endemic animals and animals live.
