Over-The-Counter Medicines That You Should Never Put On Your Mouth Again, Ever – May This Be Warning

We are living in a really fast-paced environment. And with that, we might become sick at times. People just don’t want to be sick at all because it will cause absences at work. That’s why, when symptoms show, many of us will just run at the pharmacy to buy over-the-counter medications.

Did you know that these medicines could affect the liver and other internal organs? Since the liver is clearing the blood of drugs and other harmful substances, the chemicals found on these medications will not give a good effect on the liver and the body itself.

Here are a list of over-the-counter medicines most of us are buying in pharmacies according to Women’s Health:

1. Multi-Symptom Products
Examples of these multi-symptom products are cold, cough and flu combination medicines. It’s commonly used because for people who wanted to have “instant cure”, this is just amazing! But overdosing of medicines like acetaminophen and Tylenol for fevers, sore throats, and others will surely damage the liver or even death.

2. NSAIDs
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAID) are those bottles of pain relievers like ibuprofen and naproxen are common in office desks to counter headaches, back pains, and cramps. Having high doses of these medications can cause gastrointestinal problems (nausea, constipation), ulcers and even kidney failure.

3. Antacids
Yes, many people are just very acidic nowadays and just eat the foods that they really love. But, because of their desire, they eat them then take antacids to ease the heartburn due to acid reflux. Many people are just taking these kinds of medications with being monitored by doctors. These heartburns could be a symptom of something else.

4. Antihistamines
Another most common meds being taken by people are antihistamines. These are answers to certain allergies. Examples of these are Claritin and Zyrtec. Benadryl or Diphenhydramine still has some side effects like drowsiness, confusion and dizziness. One must think first before taking these kinds of medicines.

5. Pseudoephedrine
Do you have clogged nasal passages? It’s really irritating, right? That’s why, people are taking pseudoephedrine meds like Sudafed. But, it can cause increased heart rate, nervousness, and insomnia. Please refer to your doctor especially when you’re pregnant.
