War has indeed made some countries in our world dubious and dangerous. For war-ravaged countries such as Yemen, there is nothing more to do to protect their lands but to train children even the little girls on how to properly use weaponries. While it is important to protect the children against the conflict, it is an answer to some parents that their children especially the girls are trained to fight against the upsurge in violence and risks.
It is however frightening and saddening seeing these children holding heavy artilleries and learning how to use it instead of seeing them at school. Children in Yemen are already aware that violence may be just behind them, and the gun fires have already made them deaf.
While there are children who wish that the war and any violence would soon end, there are who were trained to fire heavy machineguns and even mortar launchers in the country’s Ma’rib province thinking it is just a play.
Kids are only four or five years old but behind their sincere aura and harmless faces lies their ability to fire a gun.
The federal law clearly prohibits children under 18 years of age from purchasing and using a gun but for children under the supervision of parents, there are almost no regulations when or what they can shoot.
In this shocking video, girls aging from 4 to 5 years old can be seen getting their lessons in the use of firearms. What is surprising is seeing them on the arms of heavy machine guns and even mortar launchers.
Children are innocent but the world is providing them reasons to grow rude and harmful. For once and for all, we believe in the humanitarian peace and this must be stopped not just for the sake of the children but also for the peace that the world has been wanting over the years.
While the war in Yemen continues to destroy the livelihoods of the Yemenis, some of them turned over their guns to the militias for high prices. Some keep their grounds now involving the children.
For some reasons, we may not blame the parents or the adults to train their children in using the guns. However, as we train them to protect themselves we are also training them how to be merciless.
