Kokichi Sugihara, a Japanese scientist, created a visual illusion showing how objects can appear to roll uphill as if they are pulled by a magnet. The work even encouraged more tourists to find out its significance to the New Brunswick’s hill in Canada. The scientist revealed the secret behind the famous and interesting but for most, there is no secret’s out unless you experience it yourself.

 The History

It was in the 19th century when the cart path was built from the city in the south onto the ridge which eventually expanded later when automobiles were released. Every motorist would notice at one point near the base of the ridge when driving south that they have to accelerate in order to avoid rolling back. What gave them bubble thought is realizing that the hill was actually contrarily uphill.

The stories rolled out and many more would drop by at the path which then became an instant local attraction for locals and the nearby visitors. Eventually, the roughly 1 kilometer pass became the Magnetic Hill amusing various visitors.

By putting your car into neutral, the car will begin to roll upward back into the hill. Becoming a historic property, the Magnetic Hill today is being preserved and drivers who would pass through must pay a fee to the end of the road. As one may have notice also, the water in the adjacent drainage ditches also seemingly flow uphill.
