You surely have heard of the mantra, “Reduce, reuse and recycle”. Recycling has numerous environmental benefits; it saves energy, conserves natural resources, limits pollution, and supports several sectors of the economy.
This is maybe the reason why French designers Anne and Philippe Guilbaud of Dentelles & Bidons (literally “lace & can”), came up with a concept of transforming oil drums into a unique and lasting revisited version of Arts and Crafts.
The Guilbauds take a fanciful approach to recycling these metal containers, cutting each manually to transmute them into aesthetically pleasing and fully functioning furniture.
Though these containers may have served as storage tools of the fossil fuel empire in the past…
What they have become now is an impressively uplifting collection which serves multiple purposes.
They’ve been converted into picturesque outdoor tables…
Meticulously detailed chairs…
Comfortably relaxing benches…
Elegant personal bars…
And even vigorously romantic lanterns.
Each creation is a product of hard work and dedication…
Devoting dozens of hours of manual cutting every intricate detail.
