How This Drongo Bird Tricks The Meerkats Is Just Smart. Trickery At Its Finest.

In the wilds of Kalahari are various animals of different classes but all go in the circle called life. There are predators and there are preys. Life in the Animalia kingdom goes with being smart too. Those who are smart enough can have their food whether in hunting or by just standing there are waiting. Drongo is just one of the birds in the Kalahari which may not be as big as the eagles and vultures but is smart enough. It certainly knows how to trade.

Among the animals are also the little meerkats which life is very simple. They would wake and go out of their homes every morning to dig for worms and scorpions. Often, they are lucky because they already know where to find their foods. And for a Drongo who can’t join the other animals in digging, it would patiently wait in a branch of the tree looking for creatures to be fooled. And in this, it found the meerkats.

The bird got the trust of the meerkats by looking after while they are digging for foods. When the eagle flies through, it would signal them. Winning their confidence was not hard at all. Just when a meerkat found something, the bird would signal as if the eagle is coming. By then, it would take over and feed on what the meerkat had dug. Sooner later, the meerkats would realize they are being tricked by the bird.

However, in another attempt. The bird would mimic the sound of the meerkat who is in-charge of looking after the eagle and would eventually take over the other menu.
