A Massive Shark Got Trapped In A Chinese Fisherman’s Net. But The Big Catch Was The Thing He Did With It. What?!

When you’re a fisherman, you always hope to have a big catch every time you cast your net. But this fisherman got more than what he expected.

A few days ago, a Chinese fisherman “accidentally” caught a massive whale shark off the waters of Fujian Province in China. At first, the local fisherman, identified, as Capt. Cai Chengzhu claimed that he did not know that the giant sea creature he has caught was a whale shark. But when his fishy tale was put into question, he added that the shark forced itself into his net and ate the fish that he had already caught. The giant catch then got stuck and unfortunately died in its attempt to escape.

“It was really unfortunate and we did our best to free it,” Mr. Cai said, according to the Daily Mail . “But having caught it and because it was already dead, it seemed a shame to waste it.”

Thinking that the fishery officials would technically allow them to sell the giant creature since it was accidentally caught and already dead, the professional fisherman decided to transport the 2-ton fish into the market in Sishi through his truck which is not usually used to carry such a heavy load.

He was hoping to get between 10,000 to 20,000 yuan ($1,621 to $,3,244) for his fresh catch but unfortunately, the Fujian fishery officials stopped him because the shark is endangered and obviously, it is illegal to catch and sell endangered species.

Such a giant catch could really make a good story!
