This Man Spent Two Years To Build His Dream Car, The World’s First Street-Legal Batmobile. WOW!

I know everyone of us has our own superheroes – may it be real human beings or comical and fictional characters.

One of the most famous superheroes of all time is the caped crusader, Batman. This ‘Detective Comics’ hero has many followers and one of them is the 29-year old Aussie, Zac Mihajlovic.

Zac has spent 2 years building his own Batmobile car (the car he has been dreaming of) after a life-long love of Batman. He has completed an accurate replica of the 1989 Batmobile featured in the classic film directed by Tim Burton, the only one in the world with full street registration.

Since he was a young child, Zac Mihajlovic (far left) already had a passion for Batman.

And because of that passion, in 2009 Zac bought a few spare parts from the actual Batmobile used in the movie.

‘It started with my grandfather who said “any fantasy can become a reality”, so we took that to the next level,’ he related.

He also owns a bat chopper (motorbike) which he has first built before the Batmobile.

In 2010, he got in touch with Warner Brothers Australia to check licensing issues in building a Batmobile.

And when everything was clear, the superhero enthusiast started working on it along with his grandfather (a retired mechanical engineer) and Scott Cox.

Finally, the vehicle was completed at the end of 2011. It was parked is his garage for one year.

Then in 2012, he decided that his car should be out running on the road and be registered.

But because getting it roadworthy is not that easy, he took the car to Queensland and worked with an engineer for nearly three months to make necessary changes.

And in December 2013, the car was finally registered. “Before it had plates people thought it was just a plastic prop,” he said.

Though the car doesn’t have all the features like Batman’s such as machine guns, grappling hooks, or oil slick dispensers, it does have  working front turbine and afterburner.

Because of the crowd that the car attracts, Zac could not use the vehicle for personal use.  ‘I’ve taken it to do the groceries one or two times – the reaction was crazy,’ he said. ‘I have to go get fuel separately otherwise it gets mad with people looking at it and takes me three hours to fill it up.’ He even had to request a police escort on his recent trip to The Rocks in Sydney’s CBD.

Six months since the vehicle was registered, the superhero fan has been using his car for professional and charity work which he now considers his full time job.
