How This Military Dog Saved Life & Suffered the Worst. But What His Comrade Did is Amazing.

In times of war, most soldiers thought that their best friend are their weapons and armors but they are not enough because sometimes there are more greater beings who saved soldiers from dangers.

One of the most interesting heroic story I’ve ever read features a saviour dog and his master who “paid in full” and saved him in return after their tour of duty.

A military sniffer dog named Vidar, who once served with the Allied Forces in the war-torn Afghanistan was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms after serving two years hunting down stashes of Taliban weaponry. The military decided he could no longer served for his purpose but one of comrade had a different view and wanted to repay him.

During Vidar’s tour of duty, the Belgian Malinois heroic bomb-hunting dog befriend a female soldier who was identified as Angei McDonell. The four-year-old Vidar became “best-friends” while they were based at Camp Bastion in the war-torn Helmand Province of Afghanistan.

The 40-year-old Angie McDonnel is an Army reservist, who works full-time as a paramedic recalled one instance when her best friend Vidar saved her life and her comrades during a routine patrol in April 2012. During that time, the heroic dog found a huge cache of guns and explosives which was seized and defused by British weapons experts.

The medic and Army Reservist was so thankful with the heroic deeds of her best friend not only for her but also for their entire team. They were also inseparable during their months of joint service, oftentimes they were seen by their comrades running together and played in the dusty desert between their regular duties.

Vidar

As time passed, Angie McDonnel and her saviour dog Vidar were separated but their path crossed once again after Angie learned the sad news that her best friend suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Angie McDonnel also learned that her best friend had been retired, she track him down to help him and promised she would do anything to make sure her best friend dog had a loving home.

Vidar’s condition was getting worst, his eyes were failing, making it unlikely to return to his former heroic duty. McDonnel was able to track Vidar down to a training camp in Germany, she was able to arrange for her companion to be sent home to her for a happy retirement in Barry, South Wales.

According to Angie McDonnel, she was so worried after she learned the news about Vidar’s condition, the dog who saved not only her life but also her comrades even noting that Vidar did not only saved her life once, but most of the time they were together she really felt secured.

Angie McDonnel added that Vidar don’t have the fear factor so it broke her heart when she learned that her best friend dog started to get scared after working hard in serving the Allied Forces in Afghanistan. Repaying Vidar’s kindness and heroic deeds during her tour of duty is the most fulfilling achievement according to Angie.
