Were you wondering about the lucid dreams meaning? Here are some details.
LUCID DREAMS MEANING – How does this occur? Dive into the magic and mysticism of lucid dreams through these details.
The movie Inception has popularized lucid dreaming. This kind of dream is when the person sleeping is aware that he or she is aware that he or she is dreaming and can apply some control in the environment and refuse to leave the state of dreaming.
A specialist says: “A lucid dream is defined as a dream during which dreamers, while dreaming, are aware they are dreaming.”
Some signs that your dream is lucid are:
- sleeper is aware that he is asleep and dreaming
- the dream is very vivid
- there’s control to some degree
- sleeper’s emotions are intense
There’s 55% of adults claimed that they have experienced this at least once and 23% claimed that they are experiencing it once a month. Some may argue that this has benefits but some argue that it can adversely affect the mental health of the sleeper through disturbed sleep and the gray area between the fantasy and the reality.
It is also found that people who get to have this have a bigger prefrontal cortex, the very front part of the brain.
We have mentioned the dangers of this and here are some of its benefits in waking life:
- less anxiety
- better motor skills
- improved problem solving
- more creative
- fewer nightmares
How does this work?
Extensive studies have been done but not much is known but it is believed that activity in the prefrontal cortex of the brain is linked with this. Most lucid dreaming happens during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
There are different ways to study this and some of the most common techniques are:
- Reality Testing
- Mnemonic induction of lucid dreams (MILD)
- Wake back to bed (WBTB)
- External stimulation
