According to statement issued by Nike,

“Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community.”

“We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”, Nike added.

Everything started after Manny’s statements in an interview with TV5 in the Philippines wherein he stated his disagreement with same-sex marriage basing on his religious beliefs. This really made the LGBT community became enraged.

Pacquiao, 37, then posted a video of apology on his Instagram and Facebook accounts saying,

“I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. “Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same-s3x marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT.” Pacquiao said.

“I love you all with the love of the Lord. God bless you all and I’m praying for you,” he added.

Popular local celebrities like Vice Ganda, Boy Abunda, and Aiza Seguerra reacted on this. Even they urge people to boycott Manny Pacquiao’s senatorial race this May 2016.

Now, even fellowmen of the Champ are just making their way to dropping him. Just like what a New York-based Filipino who made a petition in Change.org to cut the endorsement contract of Manny with Nike because of his statements.

Aries Dela Cruz gathered signatures from people to boycott products from Nike until the giant brand ends their contract.
