Last Wednesday, February 17, respected broadcaster, Karen Davila together with Vic Lima interviewed the 8-Division world champ Manny Pacquiao in the program called, Pasada sa Sais Trenta in dzMM radio.
The interview focused on Pacquiao’s statement on same-s3x marriage.
Manny emphasized that “he is not against or condemning LGBT community as well as everyone” but, the “ACTS of making love between same-s3x couples” is what he’s against with basing on what the Bible says.
Here are the questions and answers during the interview listed by Spot:
Davila: “Humingi ka na ng tawad kahapon. Sinabi mo ayaw mo makasakit [at] mali na ikinumpara mo sa hayop ang LGBT. Pero ngayon sa interview natin, sinasabi mo na nagsasabi ka lang ng totoo. So ano ang totoo?”
Pacquiao: “Iyon ang opinyon ko. Hindi ako nagko-condemn ng LGBT. Ang sinasabi ko lang, ‘yong mga ginagawa nilang karumal-dumal in the eyes of God. May mga pamangkin ako na bakla.”
Davila: “Naiintindihan kita, lagi mong kino-quote ang Bibliya. Pero narinig mo na ba ang kasabihan na separation of Church and State?”
Pacquiao: “It is impossible for a nation to become successful or to be blessed without the guidance of the Lord. It’s impossible to have peace and unity without God.”
Davila: “Sinabi ng Ladlad [party list] na wala pa nga sa usapin ang same-sex marriage. Ang pinaglalaban ng LGBT ngayon sa Kongreso ay ang Anti-Discrimination Bill. Ang gusto nila ay hindi sila tanggalin sa trabaho dahil sila ay LGBT. Gusto nila pantay na karapatan. Totoo ba na hindi mo sinuportahan ang Anti-Discrimination Bill?”
Pacquiao: “Hindi po tama ‘yan. Ayoko ng hinuhusgahan ang tao. Ang ayaw ko lang po ay ‘yong pagtatalik ng lalaki o babae sa babae. […] I will support the bill. Dapat pantay ang pagtingin natin sa lahat ng tao dito sa mundo.”
Davila: “Manny, alam mo ba na kahit sabihin na same-sex marriage, hindi ibig sabihin noon ay ikakasal sila sa simbahan? Ito ay same-sex marriage sa ilalim ng batas, ng korte. Kapag ikinasal sa isang korte ang isang LGBT couple, ay pareho ang benepisyo nila, protektado sila ng batas. Walang diskriminasyon ang batas laban sa kanila. Hindi ipinipilit na ikasal sila sa loob ng simbahan. Naiintindihan mo ba ‘yon?”
Pacquiao: “If we’re talking about marriage, that’s sacred. Napaka-importante ang marriage sa mata ng Panginoon. So for me, ha, if you’re doing that, you’re insulting God. But I’m not condemning them because they are LGBT. Gusto ko pantay lahat.”
Davila: “Ang problema ng maraming LGBT ngayon ay kapag matagal na silang nagsasama tapos nagkasakit ‘yong isa. Ang nangyayari, hindi itinuturing ng ospital o ng batas na ang partner niya ay ‘yong kasama na niya ng matagal. Tinatawag ang kapatid, ‘yong pamilya…masakit ‘yon para sapartner, Manny!”
Pacquiao: “‘Yan po ay mahabang diskusyon bago tayo mag-oo o mag-hindi. Kailangan pag-aralan na ‘yan. About na’ yan sa mga bagay ng mundo. Depende na ‘yan sa batas na gagawin natin.”
Davila: “Sa isang homosexual couple, matagal na silang nagsasama…papayag ka ba na pwede silang mag-adopt—legally adopt—ng isang sanggol na maituturing nilang sariling anak?”
Pacquiao: “Ang pag-adopt, walang problema. Pero ang marriage, napaka-importante ‘yan sa mata ng Panginoon. Sagrado ‘yan.”
Davila: “Paulit-ulit niyo sinasasabi na karumal-dumal ang sexual acts ng same-sex [couples]. Since you are quoting from the Bible, are you saying lahat ng LGBT will go to hell? Kasi you are quotingLeviticus, nabasa ko ‘yan. Napaka-harsh ng Leviticus, Manny, ha.”
Pacquiao: “Hindi ko sinasabi na lahat ng LGBT will go to hell. Pero hindi lang sa Leviticus, nasaNew Testament din ‘yan.”
Davila: “Should you be a senator or should you just be a pastor? Nababagay ka ba sa Senado when we are in the 21st Century?”
Pacquiao: “Ang daming problema sa gobyerno natin, lalo na ang korupsyon. Ang tanging solusyon lang sa korupsyon ang pagbabalik sa [pagiging] godly leaders. Maging godly person ang lahat ng leader sa bansa. Because if you are godly leaders, you have the fear of the Lord not to steal money.”
Davila: “May tanong si Sen. Antonio Trillanes na nakikinig ngayon. ‘Bakit si Vice President Binay,malakas magdasal pero malakas pa rin siya magnakaw ?'”
Pacquiao: “We have to respect our Constitution. Presumption of innocence until proven guilty.Kung siya ay guilty, kailangan siya parusahan.”
Davila: “Sa mga nakikinig ngayon, marami sigurong nag-iisip na you’re being very judgmental.Papel mo ba to be the one to judge? Is that your role?”
Pacquiao: “Sino ba ako para mag-judge ng tao? Makasalan ako. But I’m telling the truth. Sinusunod ko lang nakalagay sa Bible. I must obey the Word of God.”
