From 7,107 To 7,106 Islands: Philippine Government ‘Allegedly’ Donates An Island To China As Peace Offering

A news reported by WhenInManila on April 1, 2014 says, the Philippines now has only 7,106 islands from the previous 7,107.

This is really a shocking news for the people of the country that’s between a dispute for the ownership of the Kalayaan Group of Islands or the “Spratlys”. According to the report, the Philippine Government allegedly made this “unpopular” decision just to let the world know that the Philippines just wants peace alone and not war.

Although, as the report says, the Government already knew that this will enrage people online but, the thing must be done.

The report in WhenInManila states that a high-ranking official said what the Government “have done” is for the betterment of everyone because the Philippines doesn’t want war.

Here’s the “statement” according to the report:

“Para po ito sa kabutihan ng ating bansa, para wala na tayo makaaway at para masaya mga gobyerno ng ibang bansa,” (This was for the betterment of our country, so that we won’t have any enemies and so the foreign governments would be happy).

Filipinos will surely be enraged by this happening if this really true. If this is true, what do you think of the Philippine Government’s decision of giving off an island to maintain peace with China?

Another Philippine government official said,

“We have 7107 islands anyway and just one island won’t make that big of a difference,”

Oh! This is tough! What do you think?

There are reports that China named the island “Gou Li Bol”, a term which means, “the strength of one’s mental character.”

Folks, this is enough!
This whole “report” was made by the creative mind of WhenInManila’s Vince Golangco. A great April Fools Day prank made on April 1, 2014.

But, seriously speaking, let’s just hope that a RIGHT peace process must be given to resolve the dispute in the Spratlys. How do you think should the Philippine Government respond to this issue?

Have a great one, folks!
