Wild animals like lions are said to be ‘dangerous’ around humans. Lions, because of their strength, could harm you when they’re too hungry and looking for flesh. However, not all lions are scary and harmful; there are some of them which have feelings too and could be a perfect body if perfectly tamed like Zion.
Zion, an 11-year-old gentle, tender and loving lion from Africa who is widely different from any lions you have in your mind. Zion was born in captivity to a lioness named Simba but had to be separated due to fears that his father would kill him. But all thanks to his caretaker Von Solms (nicknamed Frikkie), he was able to live a normal life.
Frikkie is Zion’s caretaker and also best of friend for 11 years.
Zion is such a softie that he prefers Frikkie walk without his shoes because noise bothers him.
“Zion is a gentle giant. He has never attacked humans and I trust him completely.”
“It was a once in a lifetime experience to grow up with him and learn and live with him through all of the stages of being a lion.”
“People talk about lions like they are just lions but they have personalities, they have humour and laugh.”
Frikkie says he has raised 19 lions, tigers and cheetahs, but says that Zion “is special because of the bond we share. I learned so much from him.”
Such a wonderful friendship we all longed for in Animal Kingdom.
