A part of this forested area belongs to Bavarian National Park – named as Germany’s first national park which was founded in 1970. The philosophy of the Bavarian Forest National Park is to leave nature to its own devices, which means the forest are left to freely grow and develop without man’s intervention, and this make it a unique and pure wilderness.
95 percent of this undamaged low mountain range is covered with forest.
