Maggie

To live life with incomplete senses is difficult. For most people, life seems to be unworthy and useless if one of the five senses is not available. We are lucky enough to live with complete senses, but unlike us, there are those who hope for a miracle like Maggie Gleason.

14-year-old Maggie was born with various medical complications and one of them is being born profoundly deaf with no cochlea so she can’t be able to have a cochlear implant for her to be able to hear again. But her family won’t give up on anything just to let her hear the world. With the help of special technology, auditory brain stem implant, Maggie can be able to hear, but with her brain.

Since Maggie’s ear has no cochlear, her family decided to go on with the procedure though they know it may take some ricks on her health. Finally, Maggie hears for the first time and it was an amazing experience for her and her family as well.
