Divorce is a disappointing issue in a marriage. The vows were gone and the two people loving deeply so much has gone too; but as long as we know, we can do nothing about it. Once the love of two people died, there’s no way to keep it, especially when they’re both hurting each other physically and emotionally.
So what to do then? Well, most marriage partners would resort to divorce like what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Hamm. They’re married for 26 years but Harold Hamm (the husband) wanted a divorce. And so for him to finally free himself, her wife, Mrs. Sue Ann Arnall will be given a $975 million divorce cheque.
Does she take it? Nope.
Sue Ann Arnall, who is now ex-wife of American oil tycoon Harold Hamm (the chief executive and majority stake-holder of Continental Resources), bravely sent the money right back to his ex-husband, not because she wanted him back, but because the court said that he should award his wife for about 1 billion dollars.
Even though receiving close to a billion dollars seems more than enough, Ms. Arnall’s lawyers insist that Hamm has an estimated $18 billion in some of his accounts. However, Hamm claims that because of the decrease in oil prices, his value has depreciated to $8 billion.
If she takes it, she will be one of the richest women in the world.
