Guy Asked This Lady For A Date, But She Turned It Down For One Reason She Can’t Forget

It is true to say that our world is cruel. Everyone can attest to that, because though there are people who are really good at heart, there are still who suppress them for no good reason. There’s injustice anywhere you are right now and the saddest thing is almost every one of us can’t do something about it.

One common instances of maltreatment is the so-called bullying which happens anywhere in the world at any age of different people. As denoted by Wikipedia, bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others.

Many have suffered this injustice and one of them is Louisa Manning when she was 12 years old. According to aPlus, Louisa was constantly bullied for her weight, body hair, and even called “manbeast” by other classmates. She suffered from eating disorders and lack of self-confidence due to such harassment.

She was so devastated by it, but it didn’t stop her to become who she is now. Eight years later, the earth’s wind change its direction. While attending the Oxford University ball, she met a guy from school who used to bully her for “being ugly.” Shortly after, he messaged Louisa on Facebook asking her on a date.

“My gut instinct was to say no, but then I realised what a brilliant opportunity it was, and after bouncing ideas off a friend for a few hours, we came up with an idea,” Manning told BuzzFeed News.

Louisa agreed to meet him at a restaurant. But instead of actually presenting herself, she left this guy a handwritten note with a memory from the past.

It read:

“Hey […],

So sorry I can’t join you tonight.

Remember year 8, when I was fat and you made fun of my weight? No? I do – I spent the following three years eating less than an apple a day. So I’ve decided to skip dinner.

Remember the monobrow you mocked? The hairy legs you were disgusted by? Remember how every day for three years, you and your friends called me Manbeast? No perhaps you don’t – or you wouldn’t have seen how I look eight years later and deemed me fuckable enough to treat me like a human being.

I thought I’d send you this as a reminder. Next time you think of me, picture that girl in this photo, because she’s the one who just stood you up.

Louisa.”

Louisa decided to share the note on Facebook and was happily surprised when she received an apology message from the guy in question. Here’s his apology:

” Hey… For what it’s worth, I was actually here to meet up looking for a chance to meet up looking to make friends, not because you are very good looking. I guess I had it coming though, and certainly don’t blame you for standing me up.

I can’t change who I was 8 years ago, and I won’t insult your intelligence by pretending that it didn’t happen, but I hope you believe me when I say I’m a completely different person now. I can only apologise and wish you the very best. I guess I won’t hear from you again but I mean it when I say that I hope you have every success you deserve.”

Louisa said that it’s a nice gesture and that she appreciates it.
