Our world is cruel, but despite of this fact, we can’t deny that there are still love and hope that lingers in each of our soul. Our humanity can still do well and save lives we couldn’t ever imagine. There are heroes all over the world willing to sacrifice for other people, even if it costs their life and happiness.
Recently, we have witnessed the so-called ‘ALS Ice Bucket Challenge’, a fundraising campaign that raised awareness to all people all over the world about the most critical disease ‘Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis’ or also known as ALS.
ALS is defined as a “progressive neurodegenerative disease,” which causes major damage to nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. And unfortunately, there is no cure for the disease at this point in time. Since this disease causes muscle atrophy, ALS patients are required an all around-the-clock care.
The ALS awareness is done through dumping a bucket of ice water over head of an individual, and luckily, there are millions who participated and donated money for the ALS Association because of the said campaign.
Those who joined, donated and pray as contribution for the ALS awareness are heroes. And like them, firefighters from Pittsburgh, California are the same. Watch the video below for you to know the whole emotional story:
Matt and Jess Onyshko were invited on Ellen DeGeneres’ Show to share their story, but unknown to them, their heroes was also there. And to give back to everything they did to Matt, Ellen gave them a surprise.
Anyone of us can tell that Matt and Jess are one of the most fortunate people around the world. Well, they really deserved it since they’re a blessing to their community. They’re doing a great job as parents and as a neighbor. Together with Pittsburgh community, they all changed their lives for their amazing story of friendship and of love.
