We are sometimes doing something without even thinking the consequences. We does it, not only for self-benefits but also to prove that we’re capable of; and that being ‘capable’ means to exhibit and letting other people know that you are.
This man wanted to prove to his friends (as a bet) that he can jump from the one dock to the other, so he proved it. He’s too confident by even bringing a bottle of beer (I think) and made the legendary leap.
