This Baby Girl Born Without A Nose Is One In A Million. Her Story Will Surely Give You Hope!

There could never be anything more precious than having your own baby. But what would it feel like when you know something is wrong with that little human in your womb?

Irish couple Grainne and Nathan Evans had their cute little baby girl born without a nose. Baby Tessa, now 17-months-old, was born with complete congenital arhinia (the absence of nose), a very rare condition that only a few cases have ever been recorded. Because of this condition, the poor baby girl doesn’t have a sense of smell or sinuses. However, she still can cough, sneeze, and even catch colds.

We really can’t imagine how the family felt going through this situation, especially the mom. Grainne said that the first few weeks after baby Tessa was born were the worst moments of her life.

“I felt so lonely and helpless, I was supposed to protect my baby and be able to help but I couldn’t. There were tubes coming out of her tiny little body everywhere. How did my little girl not have a nose? Was she going to live? Would anyone be able to help her? But ever since we got her home she’s grown every day, smiled more and the more she shines the more her differences fade into the background.”

But the couple didn’t gave up. And now, baby Tessa has grown to be a happy child who is full of love and curiosity. She had a special speaking valve installed and is no longer silent. She’s also scheduled for  first-of-its kind surgery at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London where doctors will give her a nose-shaped mold.

The family aims to connect with other people with arhinia, be an inspiration, and give hope to those who are living with the same condition.
