Feast Your Eyes On These 22 Colorful Coral Reefs Pictured Under UV Light. Oh So Fascinating…WOW!

If there are glow in the dark objects, radiant fireflies, dazzling glowworms and other bioluminescent creatures, there are also this so called “fluorescent coral reefs.” But unlike those I have mentioned, these brilliant corals don’t glow on their own. They absorb one color of light and produce light of another color – and the process is called fluorescence.

Not all aquatic creatures that are shining in bright colors are fluorescent – not all corals either. They are also not all apparent to the naked eye. But thanks to those who have professional expertise and proper tools who were able to capture these beautiful underwater organisms that we are given the opportunity to behold their spectacular beauty.

To better view fluorescence, proper lighting is needed. There are also a wide source of tools (fortunately are affordable) that can be utilized to assist the human eye and camera lens to capture fluorescence which includes but not limited to traditional actinic lamps, blue spectrally weighted bulbs, specialized excitation camera filters and intense LED flashlights.

Though green is the most common fluorescence color, a bounty of other magnificent colors like red, yellow, orange and cool spectrum colors have also been revealed through various explorations.

So here are some of these striking and colorful coral reefs pictures under UV light:
