In any history class, or whenever you’re traveling to an unknown place, a map is but one of our friend for such a journey. Like what its’ displayed, countries all over the world share their territories according to how they conquer their land. Some would have big land, others don’t.
Nevertheless, that information is all but history’s past which is not really important at this moment. If maps were used for navigation, an English artist based in Cardiff, Wales, UK, Ed Fairburn made some artistic creation with it.
He incredibly drew beautiful portraits on the map which has appeared in exhibits, magazines and journals since 2012.
“Through my studies of the human form I examine the patterns and structures which exist across the body. I disassemble those structures and reconstruct them onto pre-patterned surfaces, including maps. The creative process involves synchronizing both subject and surface. I search for similarities between the characteristics of the human figure and the topographical features of the map, resulting in a unique amalgamation.” Fairburn said.
