3D illusion is nothing new. We already have featured 3D optical illusions and 3D street art paintings. But I’ve come across a new kind of art where 3D can be of effective use.
Some people perceive tattoos to be a unique work of art on the skin, etched by skilled arts. But this Italian tattooist by the name of Lippo has taken 3D tattoo by adding the element of 3D illusion. His ability to imitate reality makes his inked subjects look to jump from their skin or implanted in them.
Take as an example this black widow spider which seems to be crawling up this man’s shoulder when actually it stays motionless as it is tattooed.
And this cartography showing a compass rose (as if printed on the man’s dead skin) being pealed to reveal a classic nautical chart underneath;
Or these birds hovering over the skin of a person while the skin cracks away to reveal a blue, bird filled sky inside.
I know this isn’t that easy as I’m wondering how many hours Lippo had spent to complete this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
