What This Little Indian Boy Had On His Back Made Him Worshiped As A God… What Do You Think?

India known as the land of spirituality and philosophy, is the birthplace of four major religions in the world; Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Religious beliefs and practices have a large impact on the personal lives of most Indians and influence public life on a daily basis.

Hinduism is famously known for its animal worship. Many Hindus see the divine spark of the supreme creator in some of the animals hence, they worship it. They’re not actually worshiping the animal but the divine spark of the supreme god they see in that animal.

And in Nijmapur, a small village in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, there’s a six-year-old boy who is being worshiped for this ‘tail’ and ‘cow-like’ appearance.

He is Amar Singh, the youngest of five siblings.

The family and the locals believe that he is connected to the Hindu god Hanuman, a monkey-like deity.

The family also believes that the boy is a divine being because looks like a cow – an animal considered holy in Hindu culture.

He has a patch of thick hair on his lower back which has grown to a length of more than 12 inches, resembling a tail.

His father,  Ajmer Singh said that even though the hair on Amar’s back could be easily cut and shaved off,  they are hesitant to do so because they consider it to be a ‘gift from god’.

But, the reason why Amar has a ‘tail’ is far from what his family and the villagers believe. It’s just a result of the congenital disorder called spina bifida, resulting to a lower-back growths or a clump of hair which can grow into a tail if left uncut (as in Amar’s case).

The real cause of this condition is not known but the most helpful way in reducing the incidence of spina bifida is the proper dietary supplementation with folic acid.

Whatever or whoever this boy is in the eyes of his family, the villagers, and other people, this I know for sure; he is special, loved, and has the right to live a normal life.
