Children’s Nightmare Turned Into Reality With These ‘Daymares’ Photos By Arthur Trees.. And The Results Are Haunting!

Dreams are always associated in our sleep, and no matter how much we tried to let go of it, we just can’t. Everyone dreams, including you and me- from the time we’re born until we get into our old age, dreams will always be there.

According to some studies, dreams are caused by our inner wisdom trying to communicate while we’re sleeping, and like many dreams ever recorded- climbing to great heights,  falling to a pit, flying, crying over something, talking to a stranger, floating in a water, and everything that rings a bell in all of the dreams we used to have, may it be in vivid or black and white appearance.

As adult, dreaming for us is somehow common for all of us and we don’t waste anymore time thinking about it. But for the youngsters, it deeply means a lot. Kids’ imagination are so wild, that sometimes, like what they always said, dreams haunt them while they’re sleeping. And often happens, they remembered it and take noted.

Photographer Arthur Trees wanted to know what dreams and nightmares of children in the early 1960s looks like, so he asked children in the late 60s and early 70s if they remember their dreams and describe it. So, he staged the haunting dreams of these children, photographed it and dubbed this project ‘Daymares’.

When Arthur was asked about his project, this is what he said: “I was looking for mythological, archetypical, kind of nightmarish images. That kind of became my trademark for the next 20 years, that kind of surreal disturbing photography.”
