It seems like ordinary things that you can see around you can turn out into something unbelievable and extraordinary. Since we humans got some impressive skills, we’re capable of creating something beautiful from something we can no longer use.
One best example is books. I know it’s very helpful in knowing everything, but it’s a fact when information written on it is no longer reliable because of current studies discovered. So, what’s to do with the old books?
If some would throw it all away or burn, some artists like Luciana Frigerio and Brian Dettmer redo it for an impressive work of art.
A New York-based artist and dubbed as the ‘Book Surgeon’, Dettmer reuse old books by turning them into an interesting piece of art simply by carving the book’s body. And so to justify his being of a surgeon, he uses medical equipment like tweezers, knives, scalpels and other surgical tools.
“My work is collaboration with the existing material and its past creators and the completed pieces expose new relationships of the book’s internal elements exactly where they have been since their original conception,” Dettmer said in his statement.
