This Primate Came Across A Park Ranger’s Closet. What She Did After Blew Me Away. Cleverly Fun!

Orangutans, just as its name means, are called the “people of the forest”. They belong to the family of apes which is believed to be where the humans descended from.

And just like humans, this fashion forward orangutan showed that even monkeys know how to dress themselves. In Tanjung Putting National Park in Borneo, a female orangutan was pictured by 41-year-old wildlife photographer, David Jenkins, putting on a shirt. The primate and her youngster were hunting for food when they noticed that park rangers were out for the day. They took this opportunity to invade their closet and got a blue polo shirt.

The following are the scenes captured:

Making sure that no one is watching.

“I have no idea how the orangutan acquired this skill but it was probably from observing the park rangers in the morning as they get dressed. Orangutans are very intelligent, curious and playful animals and this is a great example of how they have an incredible ability to learn new skills. Most of the animals at the national park are wild but some are introduced after being rescued from the illegal pet trade when their mothers died. They are free to live a wild life now but sometimes they will visit the ranger stations for some bananas,” Mr. Jenkins said.

“I was amazed when I saw the orangutan put on the shirt, my initial reaction was utter disbelief and then a lot of laughter, they really are special creatures,” he added.
