In Madrid, Spain, locals are following a rare tradition of letting the priest bless their pets regardless of their class and size. Since pets have become part of the family, it is just right that these animals too would receive blessings from the church.
When the moment comes, pet owners would bring out their pets may it be dogs, cats, rabbits and even iguanas. They would fall into the long line just to have their pets receive the pet’s blessings.
People would pack in front of the church with their animals for the rare tradition. This bizarre spectacle is in line with the celebration of feast of Saint Anthony.
Saint Anthony is known as the patron saint of the animals.
